Leroy C. Bud Lucas, age 84 of Grand Rapids, born October 19, 1929 in Detroit to the late Leroy H. and Madeline M. Lucas, died September 11, 2014. He was preceded in death by wife Sally in 1995. Bud is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Nancy (Lou) Czanko of Northville, Dan Lucas, Cathy (Jim) Frisinger, Marcy (Frank) Martin, Karen Weiss; and grandchildren, Lane, Brittany, and Danielle; sister, Dawn (Fred) Hartel; and eight nieces and nephews. Bud was proud to have served his country with the Army Engineer Corps stationed in Paris during the Korean War. He graduated from MSU, and went on to a long career as a stock broker in the Grand Rapids area. Bud enjoyed life on every level, especially skiing, sailing and golfing. He will be remembered for being a kind man with a wonderful sense of humor. Bud and his family want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of his close friends, caregivers Thomas and Jim, along with the staff at Clark Retirement Home for their support and love throughout the years. You each made a huge difference in our lives and your contributions are most appreciated. Deborah Deb Clinton, age 61 of Lowell, went to be with her Lord while surrounded by her family on Wednesday, September 10, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Lucy Moraga, father-in-law Robert Clinton, brother-in-law Kevin Clinton, brother-in-law Henry Diaz, and sister-in-law Olga Moraga. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Robert; children Bob, Dina and David Clinton; brothers Henry (Sara) Moraga, John (Lupita) Moraga, Pete Moraga, Arthur Moraga; sisters Naomi Diaz, Virginia (Jesse) Morales, Emily Quinones, Dina (John) Porras; mother-in-law Barbara Clinton; sister-in-law Annette (Kerry) Walters; and many nieces and nephews. Deb had a genuine heart of love for others and took great joy in serving those around her, especially her family. Her greatest joy, however, was serving her Lord Jesus Christ whom she accepted as her Savior when she was ten years old. Although we will miss her dearly, it is a great blessing and comfort for us to know she is now rejoicing in the presence of the Lord whom she loved so much. Rose Mary Fedewa., age 91, of Grand Rapids was called to heaven on September 9, 2014 while a resident of Clark Retirement Community. She was born Rose Mary Cook on September 23, 1922 in Lyons, MI, the daughter of Anna Wohlschied and Otto J. Cook. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 65 years, Ervin Fedewa, her precious daughter, Mary Lynn Fedewa and her sister Genevieve Bowen. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Sharon (Jim) Murray, Carol (John) ODonovan, Robert (Cindy) Fedewa, Kim (Steve) Brems; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, her loving husband Ralph Baker and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her beloved sisters, Virginia Olson, Phyllis (Larry) Alden, and Joyce Lareau. Rose and Erve Fedewa, her high school sweetheart, built a good life for themselves in the Grand Rapids area and enjoyed many happy years with family and friends here, at their cottage on Wabasis Lake and at their winter home in Pinellas, FL. Rose was the ultimate wife, mother and homemaker. She will be forever remembered as Nana Rose to her many grandchildren. She was an excellent cook! She loved knitting, crocheting and Scrabble! Rose leaves a lasting legacy of love for all her descendants. She taught us about faith, selfless giving and sacrifice; patience, persistence and unconditional love. Her spirit truly lives on! Lillian J. Crout (Booth), born September 8, 1930 to Claude and Lena Booth, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014 at the age of 83. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Sterling Crout; son Roger (Karen) Crout; daughters Nancy Jones and Debra Crout; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many special nieces and nephews. Kathryn Louise Lyon, age 77 of Ludington, went home to Jesus on Sunday, August 31, 2014. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Richard; children, Mark (Tiffany) Lyon of Saratoga, CA, Susan (Steve) Merrill of Lowell, MI; grandchildren, Alexander and Jack Lyon, Aidan Roustan, Zachary and Mackenzie Merrill; sister, Donna J. (Glen) Murphy; and nieces and nephews. She was born on April 20, 1937 in Saginaw, MI to Glenn J. and Alberta C. Brown. Kathy graduated from Coleman High School in 1955 and went on to get her BA in music education and history from Michigan State University in 1959. She was married to Richard Chapman Lyon of Wyandotte, MI on April 9, 1960. She obtained her masters in secondary counseling from Michigan State in 1965. Dick and Kathy moved to Ludington in 1969. Kathy worked as a high school guidance counselor for Ludington High School from 1969 until her retirement in 1993. Besides her career, Kathy was an accomplished pianist and taught piano lessons out of her home. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Cascade Christian Church, 2829 Thornapple River Dr. S.E., Grand Rapids. Rev. Jill Forton officiating. Lucy Ann (Brovont) Wilcox, age 91 of Cascade, was called home to be with her Heavenly Father Saturday, August 30, 2014. She was born August 20, 1923 to Tobias and Laura Brovont. She was a resident of Cascade for more than 43 years. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Kenneth L. Wilcox; her son-in-law, Larry A. Beck; eight brothers and one sister. She is survived by her children, Rita Beck, Jeff (Bev) Wilcox, Karen (Hartman) Kircher IV, Craig Wilcox; grandchildren, Steven (Jamie) Beck, David (Tori) Beck, Brent (Rachel) Wilcox, Melissa (Zachary) Van Dyke, Lindsey (Scott) Frein, Keith Kircher; ten great grandchildren, who were a source of joy in her declining years; sister, Rosa Wilcox; brother, Ernest (Neva) Brovont; also many nieces and nephews. We have been blessed to know her as mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. Lucy was a long time member of Cascade Christian Church, where she spent many years volunteering in the youth ministry, Denison Guild, and gift shop. She enjoyed and appreciated her visits from her church family and Faith Hospice, their uplifting spirits blessed her. Her sense of humor, giving spirit and many talents will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Frances Louise Syrba, age 72 of Grand Rapids, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014. She was preceded in death by her sister Rosemarie, parents Felix and Mary Prawdzik, and daughter-in-law, Susan Syrba. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gerald; children, Connie (Tom) Grant, Ken (Lydia) Syrba, Kerry (Natalie) Syrba, Keith (Shannon) Syrba; sisters, Dorothy Grezegorski, Patricia Cook; brother, James (Maria) Prawdzik; sister-in-law, Judith (Frank) Hoover; also nieces and nephews; her family was her source of joy, especially her ten grandchildren, Kyle, Rachel, Derek, Lauryn, Nicholas, Leanna, Brayden, Owen, Reece, and Olivia. Heaven will cherish you and we will all miss you. Fran was a longtime member of St Thomas the Apostle Parish, where she directed the religious education program in the 1970s, she served many years as Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and coordinated the accounting of the Sunday collection. For 18 years she was a volunteer with Visiting Nurse Association assisting in transportation and visiting with countless patients. Sharen Margaret Edwards, age 61 of Grand Rapids, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from complications of breast cancer. She was preceded in death by her father Grant Frederick Davis and mother Margaret Peggy Myrlene Davis. She is survived by her daughter, Gwyneth (Kevin) Kramer; sons, Rian (Erika) Morgan, Robert Edwards; brothers, Merl (Pat) Davis, Eric (Terry) Davis; grandchildren, Elijah, Kaden, Natalie, Emerie and Joshua. Sher enjoyed kayaking, gardening and making arts and crafts especially jewelry making. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She worked as a technical trainer for Deloitte and Touche for over 13 years. Deloitte is the largest professional services firm in the world. She started out in 1999 as a leader of Learning and Development for Information Technology in the Great Lakes Region. She was so incredible that she was promoted into the Learning and Development group at the national level, and there she led the development and implementation of the training/learning for 50,000 people within the firm on several critical enterprise-wide technology application deployments. Her work still stands today and is in use company-wide. Sher was a volunteer at Gilda's Club of Grand Rapids as a mentor and healing blanket instructor. It brought a lot of joy to her life to be a part of such a wonderful community of people. As a family, we are proud of her service to others as she fought her disease for over four years. She will be missed and loved by many and forgotten by none who knew her in life. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 19th, 11:30am at the O'Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. Jerrils, Rosemary (DeLoof, Beimers), age 64 of Alto, passed away Monday, August 11, 2014. Wife of Larry, Mother of Bert (Susan) and Joe (Jodi) Beimers. She also leaves her father Adrian (Junior) DeLoof of White Cloud, MI; sister Jane Smith of Wyoming, MI; grandchildren Shad, Hunter and Ivy Beimers and Evan Hutchison; many nieces and nephews and adopted family Randy, Margie, Ocean, Mariah, Noah Moore. She was a hairdresser for 40 years, worked at Lowell Engineering for 5 years, and retired from the USPS after 24 years.
