Albert (Al) Franklin Kendall, age 85, was escorted by our Lord Jesus Christ into the loving arms of our Father God on September 4, 2021. Al was born March 3, 1936, to William and Mildred Kendall in Detroit, Michigan. Al, also known to many as Bud, lived his life with joy and spread that joy to everyone he met through his cheerful personality. He was always upbeat and outgoing. When you asked him how he was doing, he would answer, “If I was any better, I would have to be twins.” Al married his beloved wife Beverly in 1958. She was his one and only true love. They were married their entire adult lives. Together they had three sons whom they raised, cared for, and loved deeply. Al and Beverly are together again in heaven and embraced by our great Lord. Al was an accomplished Professional Engineer in his career, a Veteran of the US Coast Guard, a musician, and a dedicated family man. Al enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed many different sports, sang with local chorus groups and was always active in his community.

Al is survived by his brother Bill and Gayle Kendall of Harper Woods, MI; his three sons: Bill and Michelle Kendall of Lowell, MI, Scott and Julie Kendall of Lancaster, SC, and Tim and Christie Kendall of Grand Rapids, MI; his nieces: Debra (Vincent) Gatto and Tracy (James) Jason; his 6 grandchildren: Amber Kendall, Amy Kendall, Genevieve (Kendall) McDaniels, Scotee Lynn Kendall, James Kendall, Noah Griffin and his 12 great grandchildren. Al loved all his children deeply and went out his way to put a smile on their faces anytime he could. We will forever miss Al, his love, his humor, his support, his smile, and the blessing he was to each of us.

Visitation will be held from 5- 7:30 PM on Monday, September 20, 2021, at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd SE, Grand Rapids MI 49546. A life celebration in honor of Al will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at the funeral home. Visitation one hour prior.

A life celebration in honor of Al will also be held in South Carolina by Scott and Julie Kendall. Family visitation from 2-8 PM on Saturday, September 25, 2021, from 2:00 – 8:00 PM at 4235 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720.
