Alyce M. Hoban, of East Grand Rapids, died Thursday, June 16, 2022. The daughter of Martha Z. Boughey and William L. Seaks, she was born on November 16, 1929, in Grand Rapids. Alyce was the granddaughter of Charles and Alice Zapf of Traverse City.

Alyce married W. Thomas Hoban on November 6, 1954. She graduated from Michigan State with a degree in Journalism. Alyce taught for many years in the Grand Rapids area. Later, she became a realtor with Village Bells. Alyce’s greatest joy was owning and operating Treeline Art Gallery in Suttons Bay for over 20 years. She was a voracious reader and loved traveling the world, especially Greece. Alyce’s greatest love was spending time with her family, particularly summers in Leland.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, W. Thomas Hoban; children, Susan H. (Greg) Workman, Bonnie (Dan) Auer, Thomas Q. (Diane) Hoban, Sally J. Hoban; grandchildren, Alyson, Elizabeth, and Greg Workman, Callum (Rebecca) and Sawyer (Kelsey Burns) Auer, Thomas Q. II and Emily Hoban; as well as many beloved friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 AM, Monday, June 20, 2022, at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 750 Gladstone Dr SE, East Grand Rapids, MI 49506, with visitation one hour prior. Fr. Scott Nolan presiding. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Alyce’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
