Allan C. Baird, age 74 of Lowell, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 16, 2014 at his lifelong home. Allan was born January 24, 1939 to Richard J. and Essie M. (Condon) Baird. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Allan will be lovingly missed by his high school sweetheart and wife of 55 years Judy (Potter) Baird; children David (Kim Crissman) Baird, Carol (Robert) Leyman, Christine Baird and Bonnie Baird; grandchildren Eric (Keerstin Bazan) Baird, Daniel Baird, Shelby (Mike Thuston) Baird, Jay Clark, Timothy (Susan) Hill, Fritz Ball and Brad (Megan DeFouw) Ball; great grandchildren Hayleigh, Alexis and Karly Baird, Zackary Ward, Brenden and Amaris Hill; his devoted brother Bruce (Marcia) Baird and many nieces and nephews. Allan was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, Golden Gloves Boxing Champion, Manager of Zzanos Pizza men’s baseball team, 4-H leader and served for 34 years as a Vergennes Township Trustee. He was a lifelong dairy farmer, owner and operator of Baird Brothers Farms with his brother Bruce, member of Michigan Milk Producers Association, Michigan Farm Bureau, Canadian and Michigan Holstein Associations. Our Good Shepherd enjoyed baseball, hunting, fishing, camping with grandkids, and time on the porch with family and friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 19 and Monday January 20 from 2-4:00 p.m. at historical Alton Bible Church, 2780 Lincoln Lake Avenue, Lowell, MI. Casual dress and baseball team shirts encouraged. Military services will follow Monday’s visitation at 4:00 p.m. at the church. Interment Alton Cemetery.
