SCOTT – Anne Carole Arnsteen Scott aged 70 passed away on June 13 2008 after a long fought battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Scott daughter Lori son John and brother Harold Arnsteen who all have been sadly missed. She is survived by children Lisa (Dirk) Buth Tony Scott; grandchildren Alexandra Buth Mallory Buth Joseph Buth Peter Buth Travis (Jami) Buth Katherine (Paul) Eichman and Kenny Hoag; brother Malcolm Arnsteen of Colorado Springs Colorado; sister-in-law Joy Arnsteen of Garden City Michigan; special friend Chuck McCastle. Anne was born in Brooklyn New York on June 24 1937. She graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Education. She worked as a Speech and Language Pathologist for over 40 years in the area of home health. She loved her field of work and that dedication to the well being of others spilled over to the countless hours she gave to volunteering with the Catholic Church and in the community including the NECM Food Pantry visiting the homebound with communion and tutoring/mentoring children and adults in the areas of reading and language. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who always put her family first. Anne was someone who was thoughtful loving and carried a witty sense of humor. Of her many interests she will be remembered as a wonderful cook avid reader and the best scrabble player we ever knew. She cherished her many friendships and demonstrated a true interest in people. Some of her most memorable and treasured times were with her morning group at Gilda’s Club of Grand Rapids. With the morning group she felt a bond and deep connection to others fighting cancer. This group of people not only supported one another but also became some of Anne’s dearest friends. Anne will always be admired for battling her cancer with hope courage and dignity and teaching all of us to never give up. Her family will cherish her and miss her forever. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Enrico Sobong MD Marti Zietse RN Carol Yost RN and all the wonderful people who touched Anne’s life during her illness. They would also like to thank the entire staff including Kim Coffman LPN of Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods for the gentle loving care and compassion they so thoughtfully gave to Anne during her final weeks and days. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church Plymouth & Burton S.E., Rev. Troy Nevins presiding. Interment Cascade Cemetery. Visitation 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd., SE. Vigil service at 7:00 p.m.. Those planning to express their sympathy are asked to consider a contribution to Gilda’s Club of Grand Rapids or Faith Hospice of Holland Home.
