Anthony “Tony” Samuel Vicari Sr. age 85 of Grand Rapids, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Grace Vicari; and infant son, Michael; sister, Mamie Vicari; and son-in-law, Todd Zylstra. Tony is survived by his wife of 67 years, LaVonne; his children, Anthony (Susan) Vicari, Jr., Mary (Charles) Phillips, Cathy (Dave) Flickinger, Carol (Rick) Lee, and Janet Zylstra. Tony is also survived by his sister, Frances (Ron) Karasiewicz; brother, Leo (Linda) Vicari; and 11 grandchildren, Becky (Jason) Prins, Katie (Jason Bustinza) Brown, Tony III (Chris fiancée) Vicari, Marie (Alex) Marshall, Nikki (Nani) Musabelliu, Carl (Rachel) Phillips, Aaron Lee, Jenny Lee, Michele Flickinger, Kyle (Rachel) Flickinger, and Brian (Katie fiancée) Flickinger; and nine great-grandchildren. Tony was employed at Lear Siegler for 20 years and was then manager of Northfield Lanes where bowling connected him to lifelong friends. He was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather who always had time to give life advice and spend with family. Those who knew Tony witnessed his rock-steady demeanor, humor and acceptance of others. Tony was a parishioner of St. Thomas. Visitation is Wednesday, May 16, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and a vigil service at 8 PM at O-Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 17 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1449 Wilcox Park Dr. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Rev. Larry King presiding. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Tuition Angel Fund.
