Arthur E. Benedict passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on Wednesday October 21, with his family by his side. He was a Drywall Contractor in the Grand Rapids area for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing softball with his children and grandchildren. He was also very active in his Church. Art is survived by his wife Gladys of 61 years, his children, Lorrie (John) Capen, Russ (Debby), Jenny (Kelly Bishop) Teachout, Mary (Rick Terrill) Benedict, Ray (Ronda); grandchildren Jamie, Kelly, Lacey, Zach, JJ, Rachael, Heather, Heidi, Levi and Jacquelyn; twenty great grandchildren; extended family, Linnie Vanderwerp, Arnold Benedict, Judy Benedict, Duane Lehnen, Eileen & Don Malinowski, Lenore Cartwright and Bob Barnes & Sue Brown. He was preceded in death by his precious grandson Andrew Benedict. Visitation will be at Roth-Gerst Chapel, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell, on Friday, October 30th 2 – 4:00 pm and 6 – 8:00 pm. A celebration of Art’s life will be held on Saturday, October 31, 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church, 11365 64th St., in Alto. Interment Bowne Center Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Art, to the Bowne Center United Methodist Church, Attn: Building Fund, 12051 84th St. SE, Alto MI 49302.
