Avis Lenore (Ollila) Trathen, born September 24, 1925 in Calumet, MI, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2016. Avis was married to her beloved husband Jack Trathen for over 50 years. A foundation of love was started the day they met, and together they built a beautiful family of 5 children (Rob, Lynelle, Dennis, Mary and Heidi), 13 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. Avis took pride in raising her family, working for Ferris State University, cooking, and ice skating with her husband Jack during the cold winter months. She was an amazing mother, friend, sister and devout Christian and will always be remembered for her contagious love, laughter and wit. Avis is survived by her son Rob and wife Patricia, daughter Lynelle and husband William, daughter Mary and husband Charles and husband of Heidi; Tom Horan. Avis joins her husband Jack, daughter Heidi, son Dennis, and daughter-in-law Bennie in heaven. The visitation and memorial will take place on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Holland Home Raybrook Manor Chapel, 2121 Raybrook SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.
