WESTERMAN – Barbara E. (Engemann) Westerman of Grand Rapids MI went to be with her Lord April 2 2011. After Barbara graduated from Aquinas College her kindness and concern for others lead to a career as a social worker in Grand Rapids. Later when her children had grown older Barbara once again went back to work at Michigan Lithographing. When retired she volunteered her services at St. Paul the Apostle Churches Stephen Ministries Program. She also delivered flowers at St. Mary’s Hospital. Barb’s disposition was an inspiration to her family as well as to many friends she welcomed into her heart. She has weathered the challenges of life and now joins her husband to enjoy eternal peace and well being. Mrs. Westerman was preceded in death by her husband John in 2009; one brother Hub Engemann; brother-in-law Edwin Mayes and parents Hubert (Julia) Engemann. Surviving are her children Joseph Westerman Ann Westerman John (Ginger) Westerman one brother Joseph (Nancy) Engemann; one sister Jane Mayes; sister-in-law Donna Engemann; one granddaughter Melissa Titov; and one great granddaughter Lilla Titov and many cherished nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church 2750 Burton SE Msgr. Ernest P. Schneider presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Vigil service will be 7 p.m. Visitation 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd. SE.
