Betty Gale Calton, of Lowell, was welcomed into the arms of her loving Savior on Saturday, August 24, 2019 in Ionia, Michigan. She was born in Huntington, West Virginia on June 9, 1939 to Lawrence Dale and Ruth Emogene (Crawford) Plants. Betty was a quiet woman who loved her family and in later life found she loved travelling and mingling with the public. She enjoyed sewing crafts and collecting many things, usually whatever the current rage was. Betty worked for many years in Lowell at Third Base, a local gas station on Lowell’s East end. She and her husband Gene traveled the festival circuit and sold goods all over the United States. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, L. Dale and Ruth E. Plants; her brother, Jack Plants; her first husband, Carl David Miller; son-in-law, Arthur (Leon) Sheldon; and granddaughter, Cassie Stinchcomb. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Calton; children, Jacqueline (Jackie) Sheldon, Carl David (Joanne) Miller II, Patricia (Dale) Lake, Jeannie (Ray) Valentine, Donald (Jen) Calton, Angie Calton, Fred (Jill) Calton, Mary (Carl) Perrin; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 14th, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service at Roth-Gerst Chapel, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell, MI 49331. Chaplin Shannon Witherell officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Elara Caring Hospice, 630 Kenmoor Ave SE #200, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.

    Betty was my cousin and I hadn’t seen her in many years but thought of her often. Sorry to have lost touch with her.
