POWERS – Blanche L. Powers (nee Lee), age 90 of Grand Rapids beloved Mother Grandmom and Sister went to be with her Lord and Savior September 6 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years John H. Powers Jr. in 2004; her daughter Patricia Smith; her brother Murrell Bubba Lee; her grandson William Holbrook. She is survived by her children: Betty Holbrook of Kingsville MD John H. (Beth) Powers III of Vermilion OH Beverly (Ken) Kenny of Huntley IL Kenton (Bonita) Powers of Comstock Park MI; son-in-law David (Kathy) Smith of Royersford PA; brother Howard (Edith) Lee of Chesapeake VA; brother-in-law Norman (Marjorie) Powers of Virginia Beach VA; sisters-in-law Aline (Robert) Hudson of Virginia Beach VA Esther (Lee) Sink of Collington Harbor NC; grandchildren Albert Beth Ann Robert Bradley Bryan Brandon Carl Adam Keith Taryn Sarah Tiffany Chris Alexis Todd Summer Stacy Kyle Christopher; 18 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandchild. Mrs. Powers was a Deacon in the Presbyterian Church a member of the Eastern Star and was a Secretary of John H. Powers Inc. but mainly she was a loving wife and mother. Her interests were her family especially her children Grandchildren Great-Grandchildren and her one Great-Great Grandchild. She enjoyed a good game of bridge playing board games knitting reading and shopping. She also enjoyed traveling and she and her husband used to belong to the Nomads Travel Club. Memorial services will be September 9 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Porter Hills Presbyterian Village Retirement Home 3600 E. Fulton St., NE. The family will meet with family and friends after the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of ones choice.
