Carl E. Franks, age 80 of Lowell, passed away Friday, December 7, 2018. He was preceded in death by his great-grandson, J.J. Cruz-Miller II. Carl is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lorna; children Scott Franks, Karla (Mark) Lauderdale; brothers Bill (Bertha) Franks, Harold (Toki) Franks, Lee (Mary) Franks, Dennis Franks; grandchildren Ronald Conley Jr., Samantha Conley, Cassandra (Gary) Johnson; great-grandchildren Elijah & Natalia Conley, Alexus & Christopher Cluver, Nathan Johnson, Deven Lauderdale, Brooklyn Cross; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Carl worked at Big L Lumber for over 40 years, and was also a longtime member of the Moose in Lowell. He was an avid sportsman; he especially enjoyed golf. He also loved to fish, and over the years, taught many people to fish. Carl was a kind and gentle person who was loved by all who met him. He was a beloved husband, cherished father, amazing grandfather and terrific great-grandfather. Carl will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. Sunday, December 16, at the Lowell Moose Lodge, 1320 E. Main St., Lowell, MI 49331.   1. I was saddend to hear of Carl’s passing. I worked with him for many years at Big L. The lumber business was and still is in many ways, a mans world, but Carl was open and willing to teach a new young woman the ropes. He was one of the most positive people I’ve ever worked with. My sincere condolences on your loss.

  3. Gail and I are saddened to learn of Carl’s passing. He was one of my original friends and employees going way back to the days of Marshall Wright Lumber in Saranac. He was loyal and honest, hard working and respected by customers and fellow workers. He made the world a better place. Our condolences to his family.

  4. So sorry to hear of Carls passing. I worked with Carl at Big L in Clarksville.
    I will always remember how much he enjoyed his fishing trips .

  5. I will miss Carl. He was a good neighbor and always made time to stop and chat or help out. He will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

  6. Today is April 23 2019. My mom is Patricia (Franks) Donato she just found out today that her nephew Carl passed away. We are so very sad. My mom is 89 and very frail but she remembers her family and knows she will see him again. Love and our deepest sympathy to the entire Franks family.
