Carol Ann Ligett, age 75 of Grand Rapids, formerly Charlevoix passed away peacefully Friday, March 4, 2022, in the company of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy & Gerald Hazen; son, Luke John Ligett; and sister, Julie Koenig. Carol is survived by her husband of nearly 52 years, John Ligett; daughter, Jennifer (Michael) Tocco; grandchildren, Brayden & Ellianna Tocco; sisters, Donna Drake, Janelle Johnson; brother, Gerald (Paula) Hazen; brothers-in-law, Bob (Shari) Ligett, Mike (Cathy) Ligett, Steve (Doris) Ligett, Dan (Sue) Ligett; several nieces & nephews; and special friend, Pam Oesterle. Carol was born and raised in Walled Lake, Michigan where she began her teaching career after she graduated from Michigan State University, earning her teaching degree and later her master’s degree. Carol taught for 28 years, many in the Holt School System. She loved sewing, reading, crafts, and card making. Carol adored her two wonderful grandkids, Brady & Elli, who brought her much joy. She and John enjoyed many fun filled years of retirement with trips across the country. They had many fond memories at their home in Charlevoix where they enjoyed the views overlooking Lake Michigan. Visitation will be 5-7pm Monday, March 7, 2022, at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Funeral services will be 12pm Tuesday, March 8, 2022, with visitation one-hour prior at same location. Interment Blythefield Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, 1169 Oak Valley Drive Ann Arbor, MI 48108.

  1. Iohn & Jennifer, I’m so sorry to hear about Carol.I didn’t know she was sick. She will have Julie, her Mother & Daddy, Grandmother Mertle & Grandfather Clyde Hazen and son Luke to welcome her to Heaven. May God bless all of you and your Families.

    friend, she will be missed .

  3. Although I’ve never met this person , I’m sure she was a beautiful person because she is related to 2 people who I cared deeply for who were/are wonderful people. Julie and Kim. My condolences to the family.
