Carrie Beth (Smith) Roe of Caledonia MI passed away February 27 2012 at the age of 40 after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. She was born in Midland MI January 21 1972 to James (Tex) and Laurel Smith. Carrie was a graduate of Ludington High School Western Michigan University and Grand Valley State University. She was married to Michael D. Roe May 20 1995. Carrie taught English for 17 years at Hastings High School. She was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Cascade where she enjoyed playing piano in the worship band. Carrie loved to travel in Europe visit her family in Ludington and most of all to be a wife mother and dedicated friend. Carrie is survived by her husband Mike; three children Alex Ryan; Elizabeth Katherine; and Sylvia Rose Marie; her mother Laurel Smith; and siblings Andrew (Harmony) Smith of Belfast Northern Ireland; Christian (Shelly) Smith of Lakeview MI; and Emily (Jonathan) Howard of Columbus OH. She was a beloved aunt to Owen and Elise Smith; Lillian and Robert Smith. Carrie is also survived by her parents-in-law Daniel and Phyllis Roe; sister and brother-in-law Michelle and Scott Houck and niece and nephew Madison and Scott Houck all of Leonard MI. Carrie was preceded in death by her father James Textor Smith. Visitation will be held March 1 from 2 4 and 6 8 p.m. at OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Funeral Home located at 3980 Cascade Rd. SE. A celebration of Carries life will be held March 2 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church 5125 Cascade Rd.
