MEAD Daniel E. Mead age 84 of Grand Rapids passed away November 12 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel L. and Mary Mead and sister Mary Mead. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Joan (McFadden) Mead; children Ann (Thomas) Ensing Jody Mead Sheila Mead Steven Mead John Mead Patrick (Laurie) Mead Maureen Mead; brother Michael (Katie) Mead; sisters Margaret Mead Ellen (Joseph) Dougherty; grandchildren Matt and Sarah Ensing Daniel R. Mead Irene Mead Frances and Sylvia Sheets Nova and Stella Main Kellen and Dominick Mead. He was a 1951 graduate of Michigan State University where he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Epsilon. Dan began his career as a staff accountant at Seidman & Seidman working his way up to Chief Financial Partner retiring in 1991. He also served as Chairman of the Seidman & Seidman Foundation. He was a member and past president of the Michigan Association of CPAs member of Michigan Accountancy Foundation Michigan State Board of Accountancy American Institute of CPAs and Financial Executives International. He also served on the St. Thomas Educational Foundation Michigan Catholic Conference St. Anns Home for the Aged and Diocese of Grand Rapids Building and Planning Committee. Dan was a member of Cascade Country Club and the University Club. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday 10:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church Rev. James A. Chelich presiding. Rosary will be recited 7:30 PM. Visitation 3-8 PM at the OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd. SE.
