Darcy Jean Hoppman, East Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully at home on February 10, 2020, at the age of 53.

Darcy was born in East Grand Rapids and graduated from East Grand Rapids High School in 1984.  She graduated from Michigan State University in 1988 with a BA in Fashion Merchandising.  Following that she earned an MS in Physical Therapy from Grand Valley State University.

She most recently worked at Michigan Urologic Consultants.  She specialized in women’s and children’s health.  Coworkers and friends frequently talk about her positive attitude, determination and professionalism.

Darcy’s passions included being a mom and attending her children’s school and life events.  Her boys and her family were the center of her being.  All holidays and special occasions reflected her incomparable spirit and her joyous personality.  The optimism she showed toward life, experiences, and work was an example to all who knew her.  Relationships and friendships energized her, helped to keep her hopeful and provided great joy in her life.

She is survived by her husband, Jeff, and two sons, Tanner and Jake.  She is also survived by one sister, Pam Blaine (Chad) and her mother, Joyce Rogers.  Darcy was preceded in death by her father, Gene French.

Memorials may be made in her memory to Hospice of Michigan or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

A memorial service will be held Monday, February 17, 2020 at 4 PM, at O’Brien Eggebeen Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Road SE, Grand Rapids, with visitation following the service until 7 PM.

  1. Alice will always have fond memories working alongside Darcy at UCPC. We’re sorry that we were unable to make the visitation or memorial today. But please know that we send you all our most heartfelt prayers for peace and comfort as we continue to celebrate Darcy’s life.

  2. Jeff, Tanner, Jake and Joyce. Sandy and I are so sorry to hear of Darcy’s passing. We found out today and wish we could have been there yesterday. We have such fond memories with lots of humor. We are thinking of each and every one of you, best wishes.
