Darrell H.M. Fase, AKA “Stinger”, age 79 of Lowell Township, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017, after a 21 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Maude Fase; sisters Donna Wilcox, Lillian Fryover. He is survived by his wife of 56 years MaryAnn; children Kathleen (Rudy) Proa, Beth (Steve) Hall; sister Dorothy Collins; brother Bruce (Ruth) Fase; brother-in-law Thomas (Shirley) McLenithan; grandchildren Devon, Derek, Zachary and Audrey. Darrell proudly served in the US Army and was a retired Grand Rapids Firefighter. “Stinger” was a man of the earth learning bee keeping from his father, and together they began their business Fase Apiaries. Hunting and fishing were among his favorite outdoor pastimes. He was a man of strong faith and committed to his church and church family. He was a friend to all who met him and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held Thursday 2-4:00 pm and 6-8:00 pm at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral service will be held Friday 1:00 pm at Second Congregational Church, 525 Cheshire Dr. N.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49505. Rev. David Alicea officiating. Interment Ada Cemetery.
