David Joseph Chenier, age 73, went home to be with the Lord on December 25, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed away at home surrounded by his family. Dave was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Chenier; Erma and Dick Barnhard; his brothers Michael Chenier and Joseph Chenier; his sister Teresa VanHuylenBroek and his step daughter Danielle Cantu. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Kandy; children Kurt (Samantha) Chenier, Mark (Christina) Chenier, Erin (Steve) Hall; step son Christopher Cantu; sisters Connie (Jim) Eardley and Laurie (Dale) Rooks, Jean (John) Christiansen; brother Andrew Chenier; grandchildren Breianne Cantu, Louis, Axel, and Jospehine Chenier, Leah and Makaila Chenier, Peyton and Sophia Hall; step mother MaryAnn Chenier; parents in law Bob and Nancy Potts; sister in law Debra Chenier and several nieces and nephews.
Dave graduated from Aquinas College and served in the United States Army. He loved boating on the Great Lakes and woodworking in his workshop at home. Dave was known by many, loved by all.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at 11AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1935 Plymouth Ave SE, Grand Rapids, Rev. Troy Nevins presiding. Family will greet friends and relatives one hour prior to mass at the church. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
