DYKHOUSE – Dorothy Caroline Dykhouse (nee Mauk). August 27 1920 October 16 2008. Our dear Mother Grandmother Sister and Friend has left us to join her Lord and Savior where she reunites with loved ones who have gone before. We are confident that Dorothy and her husband Sybrant are dancing together in Heaven. Also waiting to welcome Dorothy were her mother and father Beatrice and Ralph Mauk; sister Jane MacDonald; brother Ralph Mauk and countless other relatives and friends. She will be missed and remembered fondly by her children Sybrant III and Rita Dykhouse Beatrice and Patrick Dooling Douglas Dykhouse and Kim Bowden and Kathy and Kevin Wallis. Also missing her greatly are her grandchildren Melissa and Scott Zeeryp Sybrant IV (Brent) and Lani Dykhouse John and Korrin Dykhouse Melanie and Jonathan Anderson Julie DeJong Patrick II and Linda Dooling Daniel Wallis and Lindsay Wallis. Dorothys 20 great-grandchildren who brought her so much joy will hold her memory dear and continue to be influenced by her strong faith in Jesus. Also surviving are her loving siblings; Albert and Frances Mauk; Rebecca DeLong and her brother-in-law A.M. Dykhouse. Dorothy is also survived by many nieces nephews and their families. Dorothy was a member of the second graduating class from Wyoming Park High School and moved to Cascade in 1946 with her husband Sybrant. Dorothy was a faithful member of Cascade Christian Church for over 60 years. She was a strong Prayer Warrior for her family and friends. She once said it took her an hour to say her bedtime prayers for those she loved. Organizations in which she participated are The Doerr Guild of Cascade Church Cascade School Mothers Club and The Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed the bright lights of a city beautiful clouds and trees playing bridge traveling and in her later years simply watching her great-grandchildren play and grow. Funeral services will be at at Cascade Christian Church 2829 Thornpple River Dr. SE Rev. Jill Forton and Rev. Raymond Gaylord officiating. Interment Cascade Cemetery. Visitation 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd. SE. Our appreciation is extended to the wonderful care givers and staff of Metro Health Hospital to Faith Hospice and especially to our friends and extended family members for their support and prayers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Ministry of Cascade Christian Church.
