Dorothy French, of Grand Rapids (formerly East Grand Rapids), went home to God in the early morning of Tuesday, June 14 at the age of 93. She is survived by two of her four sons and their wives, Jeffrey (Diane) French, and Steve (Nancy) French; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Edgar French; and sons, Rodney French, and Terry French; her sister, Delores; and brother-in-law, Don Moorhead; and her brother, Don Jauss. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews and their families– Craig Moorhead, Christine Towner, Pam Taylor, and Rand Moorhead; and her dearest friend, Martha Dunning.
Dorothy lived a rich life, full of friends and laughter. After raising her four boys, she pursued a successful career in retail sales, and was recognized as the top salesperson in Hudson’s department store. For many years, she was active in Trinity United Methodist Church, volunteered at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop, and helped with elections in East Grand Rapids.
A celebration of her life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Rapids at 11am on Wednesday, July 20.
