PETERS – Elizabeth (Betty) Peters age 85 passed away on November 2 2008. Betty Peters was born on July 6 1923. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Clara Peters; her siblings Jean (John) O’Rourke James Peters Teresa (Bill) Goggins and Shirley Wolf. Also preceding her in death were grand-nephews Stephen Wolf and Kurt Van Os. She is survived by her brother Fred (Shirley) Peters; sister-in-law Nel Peters; brother-in-law Bob Wolf; and her lifelong companion and dear friend Neil White; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Betty attended Mount Mercy Academy before graduating from Catholic Central High School in Grand Rapids and from St. Camillus School of Nursing in Kalamazoo Michigan. Betty continued her nursing education at Grace Hospital in Detroit where she became a Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Until her retirement she worked for the Kalamazoo Anesthesiology Group in Kalamazoo. Betty was an excellent golfer and enjoyed skiing snorkeling sewing and was well known for her talent at knitting. Betty loved entertaining family and friends at her summer retreat at Sandy Pines. As Betty wished cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered November 22 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church 2750 Burton SE Grand Rapids. Friends may meet with the family from 7 to 9 p.m. November 21 2008 at the O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd. SE. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Betty’s family wishes to thank those at Clark Retirement Community and Hospice for the warm and tender care she received in the last years of her life. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association Alzheimer’s Association or any Catholic charity will be appreciated.
