BRAUN Ellamae Braun born April 10 1928 of East Grand Rapids passed away and went to her Lord on June 2 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred G. and Ruth E. Braun; her brother Richard H. Braun and her sister-in-law Rosemary Braun. Surviving are her brothers Fred G., Jr. and Bev Braun of Grand Rapids and Robert T. and Bonnie Braun of Spring Lake and Mrs. Richard H. (Ruth) Braun of Traverse City. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews in the Grand Rapids and Traverse City areas. She had fought the good fight against the ravages of lung cancer. In her business career Ellamae worked for and ran Braun Paper Company; later worked for Union Bank Company and ended her career in business at St. Marys Health Care. She also was one of the first employees of the now Grand Valley State University. She was recently awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by St. Marys Hospital. She was an active participant and longtime Board Member of The Doran Foundation St. Marys Hospital. One of her great avocations was volunteering at Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids. She also attained the level of Master Gardener. Her outstanding gardens continue to dazzle friends and neighbors. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday 1:00 PM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church 1935 Plymouth Ave. SE Rev. Troy Nevins Msgr. William Duncan and Rev. John Kenny CSP presiding. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd. SE with a Rosary being recited at 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Killgoar Foundation or The Doran Foundation at St. Marys Health Care.
