Frances “Fran” Cucinella

Frances “Fran” Cucinella, age 96 of Grand Rapids, passed away Friday, September 6, 2019.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Giuseppe “Joseph” Cucinella (2013); parents, Stefano and Rosalia Mazzerelli and sister, Rose Guerriero.  She is survived by her children, Joe (Becky) Cucinella, Jackie (John) Van Straten and Rose Cucinella; brother, Michael Mazzarelli of Las Vegas; brother-in-law, Dominic (Pat) Cucinella of Byron Center; sisters-in-law, Lucrezia Cucinella of Sicily, Enza Cucinella of Sicily; grandchildren, Joe, Gina and Nick (Allie) Cucinella, John (Marta), Phillip (Jill), Timothy (Natalie), and Christopher (Ali) Van Straten and precious great-grandchildren, Lydia, Sofia, Anthony, Austin, John Paul, Scarlett, Caleb, Aubrey and Joseph Van Straten; many special nieces and nephews.  Fran was a very loving and social person and her greatest love was her family.  She enjoyed her many trips to Vegas with her husband, bingo and playing poker with family and friends.  The family would like to extend special thanks to her caregiver Mary Sue Witkowski and the staff at Sentinel Pointe.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, September 10 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 101 Hall Street, SE, Rev. Theodore J. Kozlowski, presiding.  Entombment Resurrection Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd., SE with a Rosary at 7:30 PM and visitation Tuesday one hour prior to the service at church.  Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice, 2100 Raybrook SE  Suite 300, Grand Rapids, MI  49546-5783 or Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 116 Green Street SE, Grand Rapids, MI  49507.
