Genevieve Froese

Genevieve (Jean) passed away on Nov. 8, 2019 at age 97.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Herbert Froese and a special aunt, Margaret Hunt.  She is survived by her children:  Thomas (Mary) Froese, Corona, NM – Connie (John) VanBelkum, Caledonia, MI – Cynthia (Stephen) Wells, Grandville, MI – Barbara (David) Gillman, Lowell, MI – Laura (Joe) VanBelkum, Byron Center, MI.    Eight Grandchildren – Tamara Froese, Jeffrey VanBelkum – Kris VanBelkum – Michael (Kristy) Wells – Amy (Justin) Wells-Morgan – Cherie (Matthew) Hanson – Eric (Catherine) Gillman, Kevin (Stephanie) Gillman – and eleven great- grandchildren.   Jean enjoyed a full life with her family.   Some of her favorite times included a yearly camping trip with family to Higgins Lake, traveling with her husband in their fifth-wheel camper to warmer winters, and many, many birthday parties for children and grandchildren.   She had a huge vegetable garden and did a lot of canning and freezing.  Her meals were always homemade and she made the best apple pie ever!  She enjoyed sewing, pinocle,  and playing music on her old upright piano.    She and her husband moved into Railside Living Center seven years ago where she enjoyed meeting new friends and playing bingo.  Visitation will be held Sunday, Nov. 17, 2-4 pm at O’Brien-Eggebean-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd SE, Grand Rapids, MI.   Funeral will be Monday Nov. 18, 11 am at Genesis United Methodist Church, 3189 Snow Ave SE, Lowell, MI.  Those who wish can make contributions to:  Hospice of Michigan, 989 Spaulding Ave SE Ada, MI 49301 – Kindred Hospice, 625 Kenmoor Ave, SE Suite 115, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 – Genesis United Methodist Church , 3189 Snow Ave SE, Lowell, MI. 49331
