KATSAMPES George G. Katsampes was born April 6 1925 in Zanesville OH and he passed away Saturday April 23 2011 in Grand Rapids. He is survived by his wife Leitsa (Evangelia) of 52 years who stood by his side patiently and dearly in the difficult times and three children Jasmine Davlantes Peter Katsampes and Maria (Ron) Bilot; grandchildren Christina Anthony David Nadia and Sammy; two great-grandchildren Alexis and Silas; nieces Toula Mena Tina and nephew Constantine. He was preceded in death by his sister Litsa (Peter) Zouboukos. He was an active member of the Order of AHEPA and the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. He loved literature and poetry and became a member of the Intl Society of Poets and eventually was elected into the Intl Society of Fame. He was a Chairman of the Grand Rapids Cyprus Committee struggling with Congress and the United Nations to have justice prevail for Cyprus. He graduated from the High School in Sparta Greece. Funeral services will be at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church 330 Lakeside Dr. NE. Trisagion Service will be at 7:00 PM Tuesday. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to greet the family 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd. SE. Interment Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and American Cancer Society.
