Gerald Allen Nester, age 73, of Lowell and formerly of Cascade, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, April 11, 2019. He valiantly fought Parkinson’s disease and many other health issues. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nellie Nester; sister, Carol Nester; brothers, Melvin Nester and Gordon (Bud) Nester; and brother-in-law, Larry Cahoon. He will be lovingly missed by his wife Shirley (Rickert-Weeks) Nester; his daughter, Gina (Randy) Anderson; stepchildren, Vicki (Mark) Soyka, Jodi (Bill) Schaefer, Kurt Weeks, Tom Mercer and Kathy (Lance) Kingma; sister, Marion Hower; Gina’s mother, Katherine Nester; brothers, John (Ronda) Nester and Norman (Ula) Nester; sisters-in-law, Lois Nester and Marilyn Cahoon; grandchildren, Brendan, Kamario, Cierra and Alissa; as well as many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. Gerald was a handyman carpenter for 20+ years and then worked for the Forest Hills Public Schools at Meadowbrook and then at Central Woodlands Schools doing custodial work. He loved motorcycle riding, hunting and time spent with family, friends and his church, Cascade Christian Church. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 16th, from 4-7 PM, at Cascade Christian Church Chapel on Orange St. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 17th at 10 AM at Cascade Christian Church, 2829 Thornapple River Dr SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 17th, at 11 AM at Cascade Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Cascade Christian Church Memorial Fund, 2829 Thornapple River Dr SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.

To Jerry’s Family: I am so surprised to read of Jerry’s passing. More so because a couple days ago I dreamed of Golf School & Jerry was there –fresh faced & smiling.
My heart goes out to all of you in this sad time. Remember the good times.
