Gordon Rudy Wilcox, May 11, 1936-August 22, 2022

“Gordy” passed away peacefully in his sleep early Monday morning. In the preceding days he was surrounded by his loving wife of 62 years, Marsha, his children, and grandchildren. Gordy loved the farm and family that he and Marsha built together. Gordy trained horses and raised Holstein dairy cattle. He took much joy in growing sweet corn and sharing it with his friends, family, and community. He was a lifelong resident of Bailey Drive in Lowell, Michigan.

Gordy was an avid deer hunter and could often be found in the woods, managing the forests and harvesting firewood. Gordy loved using his excavator and was active on Wilcox Farms even at 86 years of age. He enjoyed eating home grown, vine-ripened tomatoes. Gordy looked forward to eating breakfast with family and friends at Keiser’s Kitchen. Gordy will be missed by his friends and family.

Gordy was proceeded in death by his beloved sister, Joyce Blasher; and brothers, Denton, Hazen, Carlton and Wayne; as well as their parents, Eva and Winton. Gordy is survived by his loving wife Marsha; daughter, Lynn (Scott) Drown; sons, Mark (Kim) Wilcox and Paul (Amy) Wilcox. He is remembered by his grandchildren, Baylee (Quinn) Drown, Grady (Ana) Drown, Nicole (Nick) Braden, Logan Wilcox, and Paige Wilcox. Gordy’s great grandchildren and step grandchildren include Garrett Nauta, Graysen Nauta, Jaeda Drown, Jordan Moore, and week-old Brecken Braden. Gordy is survived by his brother- in- law, Fred (Mary) Verspoor, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022, at 10AM at the Lowell First United Methodist Church, 621 E. Main St., Lowell, Michigan 49331. The funeral service will be at 11AM, with a luncheon at the church to follow. Pastor Brad Brillhart officiating. Interment Bailey Cemetery.

Gordy’s family are grateful to the staff at the Meijer Heart Center for their excellent and compassionate care. Gordy’s family requests that in lieu of flowers, gifts be given in his memory to the Flat River Outreach Ministries, 11535 Fulton St. E, Lowell, MI 49331, or Lowell First United Methodist Church.
