Halina Poplawska, age 91 of East Grand Rapids, was born into Eternal Life on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at her home.  Beloved “Ciocia” Halina is survived by her niece, Ewa (John) Corbett; grand nieces, Amanda (Chris) Jacobs, Christine (Justin) Cramer, Natalie (Kevin) McCarty; great-grand nephews, Colin & Eli Cramer. Born in Lomza, Poland, she survived World War II German concentration camp with her mother and sister. In 1958 Halina was reunited with her father in Grand Rapids. She studied Humanities at Warsaw University, received a Bachelor Degree in History at Calvin College in Grand Rapids and a Master’s Degree in Library Science at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  Halina had a passion for music, art and promoting Polish history and culture.  She retired from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids in 2015 at the age of 90. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday, July 19 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2750 Burton St. SE, Msgr. Ernest P. Schneider, presiding.  Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.  Visitation Monday 6-8 PM with a Rosary at 7:30 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul the Apostle/Daniel J. Donnelly Education Foundation, 2750 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546-4998.
