Helen Frances Ellinger, age 95, of Cascade, went peacefully to be with the Lord on February 26, 2019. Preceding her in death were her husband, A. Vernon Ellinger; and son, Gerald Michael. Surviving are her three sons, James of Seattle, WA, Edward (Pamela) of Allegan, MI and Douglas (Cindy) of Rockford, MI; daughter-in-law, Julia Ellinger of Cascade, MI; grandchildren, Michael (Tracy) Ellinger, Jennifer (Nathan) Cox, Phillip (Natalie) Hallinger, Steven (Jessica) Ellinger, Megan Ellinger and Riley, Triston and Ashton Cherry; great-grandchildren, Ian and Austin Ellinger, Charles and Emily Cox and soon-to-be born Baby Hallinger; and sister, Kay Mills. In retirement, Helen enjoyed canning vegetables, jams and jellies until she was 87 years old. She also loved creating a garden of beautiful flowers in her yard, watching her favorite game shows and the Detroit Tigers. She enjoyed her family and friends and the neighbors who walked their dogs past her house every morning. Visitation will be Sunday, March 3 from 5-7 PM at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 and one hour prior to Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 4 at 11 AM at St. Robert of Newminster Parish, 6477 Ada Dr, SE, Ada, MI 49301. Rev. Leonard Sudlik presiding. Interment Cascade Cemetery.
