Jacob G. “Jack” Van Putten, age 63 of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 9, 2019, at his childhood home on Murray Lake. Before his death, he was one of the longest year round residents on the lake. Jack was born on July 22, 1956, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Jacob and Marry (Kleynenberg) Van Putten.  He graduated from Lowell High School in 1974. As a child, he loved to disassemble, tinker, and figure out how things worked. In life, Jack was a master of all trades but electricity was his passion. Jack’s natural mechanical aptitude became a way for him to support his family and help people in need. Jack was a Master Electrician for over 40 years, a trade he learned from his father and also passed down to his own son. Jack worked for over 20 years as a Corporate Plant Engineer for Lescoa in Grand Rapids, MI. After that, Jack went into business for himself until his death. Even though he loved his occupation, he cherished his family above all. On May 3, 1975, Jack married the love of his life, Judith “Judy” Schuelke, together they raised three children. He enjoyed spending time as a family, vacationing at Cedar Point was his favorite trip. Jack always came through when you needed him, and was the type of person that could help you work your way out of almost any problem. He was preceded in death by his father, Jacob G. Van Putten; mother, Mary K. Van Putten; grandson, Hunter I. Johnson; nephew, Gary L. Parcher; and brother-in-law, Daniel Homrich. Jack is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judith “Judy” Van Putten of Lowell; children, Jennifer (Beau) Johnson, Jessica (Matthew) Polczak, Jacob (Shelby) Van Putten; grandchildren, Collin, Chloe, Evan Johnson, Tyler Austin, Dylan, Avery Polczak, Ashtyn, Jack Van Putten; siblings, Diane (Dave) Fleeger, Donna (Gary) Parcher, Richard Van Putten; sisters-in-law, Katherine (Don) Ladner, Mary (Ed) Schmidt, Rebecca (Matt) Shehorn; brother-in-law, David Schuelke; several nieces, nephews, and beloved dog Penny. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 15, 2019, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Roth-Gerst Chapel, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell, MI 49331 with funeral services following at 1 PM. The family invites you to a luncheon after the service from 2 to 5pm at Impact Church, 11840 Fulton St E Lowell, MI 49331.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cub Scout’s #3134 or Girl Scout Troop #8138.
