Jacob Klein Jr., age 84 of Alto, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 8, 2018. Jake was born to Jacob and Elizabeth Klein on March 22, 1933 and grew up on a farm near Martin, Michigan along with his younger brother, Neal. He was a hardworking, fun-loving, frugal individual who dearly loved his family. He worked for 43 years at the Keebler Company where he often worked six days a week maintaining the machines and keeping everything in good working condition. Jake was an avid gardener, growing beautiful plants that he tended around the swimming pool and also in a large vegetable garden. He enjoyed camping with family and friends and racing go carts. For many years, he was a volunteer with the Cascade Fire Department. His tenacity, work ethic, and love will live on in his precious grandchildren: Jesse (Angela), Steven (Holly), Jordan (Michaela), Gayle (Tim), Reid (Hannah), and Grant (Savannah) and his great grandchildren: Rylee and Bailey. He will be greatly missed by all, and his memory will be kept in the hearts of this beloved wife of 64 years, Betty; his sons Rudy (Sue), Dave (Jane); and daughter Barb. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, January 11, 6-8:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids, and one hour prior to the service at the church. A service to celebrate Jake’s life will be held on Friday, January 12, 11:00 a.m. at Thornapple Community Church RCA, 3260 Thornapple River Dr. S.E., Pastor Tim Dieffenbach officiating.
