James “Sam” Herman VanderLaan, age 75 of Ada, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 14, 2015. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Carolyn; sons, Jim (special friend Candace), John (Jamie), Jason (Debra); sisters, Julie VanderLaan, Ruth (Marv) Vos; sister-in-law, Judy VanderLaan; grandchildren, Kyle (Kayleigh), Kera, James, Mary (Brian), Ashley, Matthew; great grandson, Jameson; also several nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law.Visitation will be held Monday 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd.
