James “Jim” William Cain, age 86 of Grand Rapids, died Monday, March 17, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine and William Cain; brothers, Albert, William and Edward. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Mary; sons, Timothy, Patrick (Michelle), Michael (Barbara), Robert; grandchildren, Valerie, Michael, Brian, Jimmy and Julia Cain; step-grandchildren, Neil Siebert, Gwen Barrett, Jesse DeWinter; sisters-in-law, Joan Placey, Valerie Cain; brother-in-law, Cardinal Francis George; also nieces and nephews. Jim received the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal of Japan. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1935 Plymouth Ave. S.E., Grand Rapids. Cardinal Francis George celebrant, Bishop David J. Walkowiak, Bishop Walter A. Hurley, and Rev. Troy A. Nevins con-celebrating. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 2-6:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd.
