Jeanette Elizabeth Najar, age 84 of Grand Rapids, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013. She was preceded by her parents John and Mary Najar; her sisters, Lorraine Michael, Anne M. Najar, Louise Abid; brother, John E. Najar; and several brothers-in-law and sister-in-law. She is survived by her sister Mary Jane Shrauger and many loving nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School and continued her education at Aquinas and a business school. She later moved to Washington, D.C and attended George Washington University. She worked for the CIA and one of her greatest memories is of attending the inauguration of General Eisenhower as President of the United States. After returning to Grand Rapids, she worked with the Department of Defense for 25 years. She was very patriotic and loved the United States of America. She was a loving and faithful daughter to her mother for over 35 years. She was a well read history buff, loved music, and had a great passion for interior decorating and shopping! She loved holidays, cook-outs with family and especially traveling in Northern Michigan with her mother and sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, 750 Gladstone St. S.E., East Grand Rapids with Fr. Paul Milanowski, presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends Friday 2-4:00 pm and 7-9:00 pm with vigil service at 7:30 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Road S.E. and one hour prior to service at St. Stephen’s Church.
