Jeraldine A. Bergman

Jeraldine A. Bergman, age 80 of Cascade, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018.  She was born in Kenton, OH on August 5, 1937, to Edward and Bessie Claphan.  Jerrie attended Miami Valley Hospital Nursing School and graduated in 1958 as a Registered Nurse. She worked in pediatricians’ offices in Dayton, OH, was a real estate agent in Elkhart, IN and later worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. Jerrie loved golf, gardening, bridge, cooking and volunteering at Blodgett Hospital through the Waters Guild.  She was a member of Watermark Country Club for over 35 years. Jerrie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jerry Bergman; her children, Jodi (Doug) Kirchhoff, Jill (Jeff) Brown, Jamie (Julie) Bergman; and her grandchildren, Kelsey, Connor and Hailey Kirchhoff, Taylor Mangual and Alyssa Brown; sisters, Carol Baker, Pam (Jim) Stilwell, Jennifer (Bob) White; and her brother, Jim (Frances) Claphan. Also several nieces and nephews. Visitation Friday, May 18, 6-8 PM at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids with a vigil service at 6 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday, May 19, 10:30 AM at St. Robert of Newminster Church, 6477 Ada Dr SE, Ada, MI 49301.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2944 Fuller Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505.

  6. Jeraldine will be missed by so, so many people as she touched their lives in a wonderful way with her humor, kindness, love and respect for all. I feel I had a pretty big part in her adult life, starting as the Best Man in her wedding. I will always think of Jerri with love in my heart.

  7. Jerry, we are sorry that we could not make it to Jerrie’s funeral. Brenda can’t travel out of town these days. I do have fond memories of the early days when all our kids we little and lived in the same area. Jerrie always was a pleasure to be around. Please accept our deepest sympathies for your loss.
