Joann Jean (May) Larwin, age 92 of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Arthur F. Larwin; children, David (Karen) Larwin, John Larwin, Kathy (Curtis) Schneider; grandchildren, Keegan (Maddie) Larwin, Kendra Larwin, Anthony Schneider, and Annamaria Schneider; and many nieces and nephews. Joann was preceded in death by her parents, Byron Glenn & Agnes Pearl May; brother, Russell McCarty; and sisters-in-law, Lois McCarty (Dick) Dahnke, Florence (Ken) Colby, Esther Buenrostro. Joann graduated from Rockford High School in 1949, and Central Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in 1953. She taught home economics at Grand Haven Middle School in 1953 and worked for Consumers Power as a home service advisor prior to the birth of her children. Joann had belonged to the Church Circle at Mayflower Congregation Church for many years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, camping, knitting, needle point, and bird watching. Joann was on a bowling league, and a season ticket holder to Grand Rapids Symphony Pops series. She liked watching baseball especially the Tigers, was a foodie, and loved spending time with family and friends often hosting and cooking for everyone.
