John Alexander Hickman, Jr.

Hickman, John Alexander Jr. of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully in his home the evening of Saturday, April 10, 2021. He has entered into the comfort of our Lord after a long fight with cancer. His love and devotion to family and friends has brought joy to all that knew him. John was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; parents, Jack and Maxine Hickman and sister, Diane Valentin.  He is survived by his children; Sean (Katherine), Reid and Erin and his adored grandchild, Cole.  John graduated from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids and served IBM and Foremost for 30 years in the Computer Networking field.  John was very active at his parish, St. Paul the Apostle. John bolstered school auctions throughout the diocese, programming behind the scenes.  The family would like to thank the many friends of John for their support and love this past month. You truly gave back the love he had for you. The family will greet relatives and friends this Saturday from 11am-1pm at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., followed by a rosary at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Cancer Treatment Center of America.
