PARKER John Elvis Parker PhD age 81 of Grand Rapids passed away at home October 17 2011. He was preceded in death by his sister Elizabeth. He is survived by his wife Cindy; sons John (Stephanie) Parker Stan Parker; step-children Dr. Carolyn Gascoigen (Jon Howe), Al Gascoigen; sisters Barbara (Ed) Wessel Loretta (Larry) Nell; 5 grandchildren; also nieces and nephews. John was a graduate of Indiana State University where he played football and received his PhD at Purdue University. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Paul the Apostle Church 2750 Burton SE Msgr. Ernest P. Schneider presiding. Visitation 6-8 PM at the OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd., SE and one hour prior to the service at church.
