John Matthew Freund Jr., loving father of two sons, passed away at the age of 55 in Lowell, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nancy Freund. John is survived by his sons, Steven Jacob Freund and Shane Matthew Freund, both of the Seattle area; their mother, Karen Bronson; siblings, Jill (Mark) Smith of Lowell, MI, Joseph Freund of Allen Park, MI, and Jennifer Haring of Highland Twp., MI; niece, Lauren Haring; nephews, Landon Smith, Logan Smith, and Dawson Freund; as well as an aunt and many cousins. He was born September 28, 1964, in Grand Rapids, MI. After graduation from Our Lady of the Lakes High School in Waterford, MI, he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Seattle, WA and London, England. Upon honorable discharge, he settled down in Seattle to make a family and begin his career at Boeing for the next 28 years. John was kind and compassionate, always putting others before himself. His family was his greatest joy, watching his boys grow up and participating in their lives. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2019 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Roth-Gerst Chapel, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell, MI 49331. Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday, October 31, 2019 at St. Mary’s Church, 402 Amity St SE, Lowell, MI 49331. Father Aaron Ferris presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to both his son’s college funds.
