Joyce L. Hart went to eternal life on January 2, 2014 at age 89 with her family by her side. A long time resident of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Joyce was the daughter of the late Leon and Jenny (Stambaugh) Gray. She was predeceased by her husband Richard P. Hart and her brother Walter D. Gray. Joyce is survived by her sister Darlene Symonds; her children Karen (Bob) Snell, Thomas (MaryAnn) Hart, Melanie (Darius) Narbutis and Jennifer (Peter) Vanderhorst; special niece, Debbie Vandawater; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; many nieces and one nephew.
Joyce and Dick’s loving marriage of 60 years was filled with joyous family trips, events, travel and treasured times at their cottage in Pentwater, Michigan and a retirement home in Orange County, California. Joyce was an inspiration to others, never losing sight of things that meant the most to her: family, friends and faith. She was loving and gracious, never met a stranger and always seemed dressed in the latest fashion. The family wishes to thank friends, relatives, church members and ministers for their care, visitation and support. We are deeply grateful to the wonderful staff at Porter Hills and Spectrum Hospice. A memorial service for Joyce Hart will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 12 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2700 Fulton St. SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
