Kathryn Morey, age 81 of Grand Rapids went home to Heaven September 4, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert, and Camille (Mileski) Smithwick; husband, Sherwood O. Morey; and daughter, Jenifer Ann Morey. Kathy is survived by her children, Scott (Beth) Morey, Susan Morey, Timothy (Gina) Morey; grandchildren, Reece, Makenna, and Callan Morey, Spencer and Emma Stream, Parker, and Ryan Morey; and sister, Mary Smithwick. Kathy was born February 26, 1940, in Escanaba, MI. She attended Holy Name High School in Escanaba where she graduated in 1958 and graduated from Mount Mary College in Milwaukee. WI in 1962. Kathy was a social worker for Catholic Social Services and Teacher’s Aide for Forest Hills Public Schools. She was an avid fan of tennis and loved watching her kids and grandkids activities. Kathy also loved the Green Bay Packers, Michigan State University, and the University of Notre Dame. She touched the lives of so many people and always had such a great sense of humor. Visitation will be 4-6pm Friday, September 10, 2021, at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00am Saturday, September 11, 2021, at St. Robert of Newminster Catholic Church, 6477 Ada Dr. SE, Ada, MI 49301 with visitation one-hour prior. Fr. Tony Russo presiding. Interment Cascade Cemetery.
