Lawrence “Larry” E. Hicks, age 90 US Navy WWII Veteran of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully Monday, January 30, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents E. Eugene and Geraldine Hicks; sisters Elaine Hammond, Barbara Duncan; daughter Karen (Hicks) Kreuzer; son Steven E. Hicks, step-son Gary R. Aarup. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Mary “Lou”; daughters Cindy (David McCaulley) Allen, Susan (Richard) Ike; step-daughters Jeanine Buckner, Deborah (David) Park, Donelle (Brian) Christensen; 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; sisters Marcia Ellen, Charlie Boylen, also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Larry made the printing business a lifetime experience and finished his career as Vice President of Litho Photo Supply in Grand Rapids. He was an active member of both the Grand Rapids Litho Club and the Craftsman Club.  He was a lifetime member of the Elks 48 and American Legion Post 258. Larry enjoyed golf, fishing, dancing, playing cards and music. He gave many years of his life volunteering and helping others. Larry will be dearly missed by his wife family and friends. The family will meet with friends and relatives Friday 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids and one hour prior to the service at the church. A celebration of life service will be Saturday 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 2740 Fuller Ave. N.E., Grand Rapids. Pastor Kevin Sullivan officiating. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial contributions made to American Legion Post 258, 401 N Park St NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525 or South Alano Club, 256 Celia St SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49548.
