Lee Edward Jacokes PhD, age 77 of Grand Rapids, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Francene (Russell); children Renee (Victor) Mancini, Jeannine (David Powell) Jacokes, Kim (Mark) Bintz; sister MaryAnn Jacokes; grandchildren Cora Mancini, Nicholas Mancini, Megan Powell, Kara Powell, Monica Bintz, Alexandra (Alex) Willauer, Mark (Lauren) Bintz, Madison Bintz, Morgan Bintz; great grandchildren William Willauer, Benjamin Willauer. Lee was a 1956 graduate of Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School, earned his Associates Degree from Grand Rapids Junior College in 1959, BS from Aquinas College in 1961, Masters Degree from University of Detroit in 1964, and PhD from Michigan State University in 1975. He taught and was an administrator for more than 40 years at Aquinas College. Lee was actively involved in local politics and served on numerous nonprofit boards. Visitation will be Friday 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday 11:00 a.m. at St. Robert of Newminster Church, 6477 Ada Dr., Ada. Rev. Leonard Sudlik presiding. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lee and Francene Jacokes Memorial Scholarship Fund at Aquinas College, 1607 Robinson Road S.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49506.
