Lena Mabel Borre, born December 10, 1921 in central Illinois, passed away February 11, 2021. Lee grew up in Deerfield, Illinois with her parents, and 8 siblings that have preceded her in death. She married Earl W. Borre (deceased 1992) January 1st, 1943. Lee had four children: Earl (Margo) Borre, Karen (Byron) Johnson, Kathe (Doug) Pimm, and Steve (Janet) Borre; several grandchildren, Nicole (Borre) Minton, Eric and Travis Johnson, Kailey (Pimm) Faris, Jake Pimm, Alexander and Ryder Borre. Cheri and Sean Craig; and twelve great grandchildren.
Lee lived in Wilmette, Illinois until she moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2017. In 99 years, she survived the depression, WWII, 9/11 and Covid. Lee had a strong, passionate, resilient faith and attended both the Winnetka Covenant Church and services at Porter Hills Village. Her lifelong passion was teaching young children and she was the Founder (est.1961) and Director of the Wilmette Community Nursery School. She loved the Wilmette beach and the Chicago Cubs! As Lee grew older, she often asked why God chose to keep her here so long? Our response to that is; she was an inspiration to all. A positive, strong, independent, tenacious, witty, cheerful and loving person…..we know she is happy now.
