Linda Maria (Antonini) Fitzgerald, age 69 of Grand Rapids, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at her home after a brief illness. She was born to Louis and Margaret Antonini in Hammond, Indiana on August 26, 1947. Linda will be remembered lovingly by her husband of 46 years, Michael; children Patrick (Lynn) of Los Angeles, Brian (Laurie) of Indianapolis, Kathleen (Mark) Cohen of Pembroke Pines, Florida, Michael (Molly) of Chicago, Maggie (Darren) Dawson of Central Lake, Michigan, Tommy (Emily), and Molly Fitzgerald (fiancé Jeff Baker) of Lowell; 17 grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters Marilyn Hibbitts, and Karrie (Dennis) McLenithan. Linda graduated from Northview High School and attended GRCC to pursue a career as an administrative assistant, retiring from the Federal Government. Linda retired from her first career to become a caring grandmother, a field in which she excelled. Linda cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren especially on trips to John Ball Park Zoo, Michigan Adventure Amusement Park, or simply at home by the backyard pool. Another love of Linda’s was to spend time with her sisters, especially if it was associated with the bet of a penny or two. Linda was an exceptional cook and gardener, skills that carried over to some of her children as well. Most importantly, Linda was a devoted wife and mother to her seven children. The family is grateful for the care of Emmanuel Hospice and the compassionate attention provided by Sister Gabriela, DCI, of the Carmelite Sisters. Family will receive friends and relatives Wednesday, April 5, 5-7:00 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 6, 10:00 a.m. at Cathedral of St. Andrew, 265 Sheldon Ave. S.E., Grand Rapids. Rev. John Geaney, CSP presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann’s Heritage of Care, 2161 Leonard St. N.W., Grand Rapids, MI 49504.
