Miske, Lorena Helen (Williams) – age 86
Lorena Helen Miske, a long-time resident of Barryton, MI, passed away April 23, 2016 at Clark on Keller Lake Assisted Living.
Born May 26 in 1929, in Barryton, MI, Lorena graduated from Barryton Agricultural School in 1947.
Lorena worked on the family farm, as a butcher at MacKersie Brothers, on the line at Evart Products and at the Michigan State Home in Mt. Pleasant, MI. She moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1978, working briefly at the Union Township offices until moving to the Grand Rapids, MI area and working at the Plainfield Township offices until her retirement.
Lorena loved good food and socializing, enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and internationally. She delighted in playing games, the organ, painting, flower arranging and interior decorating. She rarely passed up a chance to go shopping or to spend time with family and friends. Her vibrant personality quickly engaged anyone she met and her warm smile would light up any room.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother Leonard and Rena Williams and spouse Gerald L. Miske of 25 years. She is survived by her siblings Eva Lumbert, Kenneth (Linda) Williams, Janice (Dick) Coppock, Helen (Gene) VanArman; her children Marsha (Fred) Ray, Steven (Cristina) Stanley, Leon (Deb) Stanley, step-daughter Dr. Shirley (David Lumpp) Miske; grandchildren Michael (Sharon) Ray, Fred Brian (April) Ray, Nicholas (Rebecca) Stanley, Jessica (Regis) Shuck, Kyle Stanley, Travis Stanley, Ashleigh (Jeffrey) Campbell, Jesse Kennedy, Courtney Kennedy; and 13 great-grandchildren who brought her great joy.
A funeral service will be held Thursday 11:00 a.m. at Roth-Gerst Chapel, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell MI 49331. Rev. Brad Brillhart officiating. Visitation Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at the Chapel, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment Brown Cemetery.
