Sharen Margaret Edwards, age 61 of Grand Rapids, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from complications of breast cancer. She was preceded in death by her father Grant Frederick Davis and mother Margaret “Peggy” Myrlene Davis. She is survived by her daughter, Gwyneth (Kevin) Kramer; sons, Rian (Erika) Morgan, Robert Edwards; brothers, Merl (Pat) Davis, Eric (Terry) Davis; grandchildren, Elijah, Kaden, Natalie, Emerie and Joshua. Sher enjoyed kayaking, gardening and making arts and crafts – especially jewelry making. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She worked as a technical trainer for Deloitte and Touche for over 13 years. Deloitte is the largest professional services firm in the world. She started out in 1999 as a leader of Learning and Development for Information Technology in the Great Lakes Region. She was so incredible that she was promoted into the Learning and Development group at the national level, and there she led the development and implementation of the training/learning for 50,000 people within the firm on several critical enterprise-wide technology application deployments. Her work still stands today and is in use company-wide. Sher was a volunteer at Gilda’s Club of Grand Rapids as a mentor and healing blanket instructor. It brought a lot of joy to her life to be a part of such a wonderful community of people. As a family, we are proud of her service to others as she fought her disease for over four years. She will be missed and loved by many and forgotten by none who knew her in life. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 19th, 11:30am at the O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids with visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids, 1806 Bridge St. NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504.
