Margaret Mary “Peggy” Pittman, age 50 of Grand Rapids, died Thursday, May 30, 2013 from accidental auto injuries. She was preceded in death by her father, Terry Gillespie; brother, Dan Gillespie; father-in-law, Adell Pittman, Sr.; sister-in-law, Shirley Pittman. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, O-Adell Pittman, Jr.; daughters, Jessica, Brittany and Amanda Pittman; grandson, Bradyn Pittman; mother, Barbara Gillespie; sisters and brothers, Kathleen (Brian) Flanagan, Tom Gillespie, Pat (Carol) Gillespie, Sarah Gillespie; sister-in-law, Mary Gillespie; mother-in-law, Lola Hazel Pittman; brother-in-law, Gregory (Mia) Pittman; sisters-in-law, Levon (Key) Pittman and Mary Pittman; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Peggy was a 1980 graduate of Catholic Central High School. In the words of her husband O-Adell in speaking of her aid in helping at the accident “That’s who she was”. “That’s my wife, she’d give you the shirt off her back.” Her family was the love of her life. We will all miss her. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday 10:30 AM at the Cathedral of St. Andrew, 265 Sheldon Ave. SE, Rev. Thomas Tavella CSP, presiding. Visitation Monday 5-8 with a Rosary at 8:00 PM at the O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE and Tuesday from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at church. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
