WYSOCKI– Sister Marie Jude, OP (born Phyllis Jean Wysocki) of Grand Rapids died June 26, 2012. She was 80 years old and a Dominican Sister for 62 years. Sr. Marie Jude attended grade school at St. Isidore’s and graduated from Catholic Central High School. She earned a B.A. in history and German and an M.A. in religious education from Aquinas College. She also earned an M.A. in elementary administration from Central Michigan University. Sister Marie Jude served as teacher, and in some instances principal, at the following schools: St. Rita, Saginaw; St. Alphonsus, Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Thomas and Marywood Academy, Grand Rapids; St. Francis, Traverse City; St. Mary, New Salem; St. Norbert, Munger, Holy Cross, Santa Cruz, New Mexico. Her last teaching assignment was at St. Mary, Spring Lake where she served for 20 years. Sister Marie Jude is survived by loving nieces and nephews, many friends and members of her Dominican community. Sister Marie Jude will repose at Dominican Chapel/ Marywood at 2025 East Fulton Street with visitation on Thursday, June 28 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. The Remembering Service will be on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Dominican Chapel/ Marywood. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 29 at Dominican Chapel/Marywood. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials in Sister Marie Jude Wysocki’s name may be made to the Grand Rapids Dominican Sisters Health Care Fund.
