Mark Tracey Thomas, age 63, went to be with the Lord December 24, 2020.  Mark was born September 1, 1957 in Marshall, Michigan to Harry Thomas and the late Irene (Thompson) Thomas.  After attending Lansing Community College for photography, Mark moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan to pursue his career in food photography. He practiced his career in photography with a great passion that could be seen in his work and success. Mark married his high school sweetheart Jan (Hendershott) in 1981 and they were happily married for 39 years.  Mark and Jan were blessed with two children, Rachele (Slotman) and Jason.

In addition, Mark welcomed a son-in-law into the family, Mark Slotman in 2010 as well as two grandsons, Lucas and Caden in 2012 and 2015.

Mark was a man of adventure whether it was sailing Lake Michigan, scuba diving Lake Superior, taking ski trips with his family or putting on the greens of Congressional. He would always bring a good attitude that everyone loved to be around. He would confidently brighten the day of all of those around him with his smile, contagious humor and distinctive laugh.

As a father he was encouraging to the dreams of both his children and always had a generous and patient demeanor. He set an example for everyone to follow including the importance of family and the love he shared with his wife Jan. Although his adventures in his earthly body are over, Mark’s next chapter with God has just begun.

Mark leaves behind his father Harry Thomas, stepmother Connie (Ackerson) Thomas, brother, sisters, and their children; Dawn (Thomas) Chorak and Warren Chorak, Renee (Thomas) Wiederhold and Gary Wiederhold, Scott Thomas and Autumn (Priesman), Jennifer (Ackerson) Royce, Jolene (Ackerson)Conn and Steven Conn, Debi (Hendershott) Kilmartin and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Irene (Thompson) Thomas, grandparents Russell and Grace Thomas, M.R. and Hazel Thompson.

He will be greatly missed as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son.
